People do not speak about Maitri out of humanity and decency. But when we speak of ourselves, here, we are speaking about others and also about our endeavor to meet in a small way the needs of the society that is Ours, that is our Country.
So, we speak….
Ours is a Vast Country suffering the ills of a past which was both glorious and divesting. A country wherein cast and creed decided and dictated economic and social conditions. A country ruled by reckless aliens over centuries harming the health and harmony of the people. Industrialization and urbanization on one hand, ignorance and vulnerability on the other have been responsible for the millions of our follow begins suffer from poverty, ill-health, negligence and other such misery.
A Democratic Government with all its Bureaucratic and Administrative machinery is totally inadequate to handle the situation meeting the basic needs of such people with varied problems. We might as well name ‘the plight of women in rural areas with the label of the caste and no education’ as one of the problems; the government needs and has to depend upon benevolent people and Voluntary Organizations formed by such people.
This is where we come in.
We, Sri Maitri Association, is a Voluntary Social Organization working on a non- profit basis. What we are today is made possible by new individuals who were kind to find their life’s fulfillment in serving the cause of the needy others with the distant hope of better days for all for over a decade, we have been doing our mite with very little personal individual ambition.
